Sunday 7/23: GENERIC PROTEST
For our public event this year, Discordian.com's KallistiCon presents:

A GENERIC PROTEST

It's not important where we stand on the Issue, but that we Stand Together! Stuff is bad! We the people advocate Standing Together and sharing an opinion! We're believers! We choose to Come Together and work for a Better Tomorrow! We protest!

You're invited to join us in solidarity. Bring generic protest signs (good signs: Protest Sign, Yes, No, This is Important, Not Ambivalent, I Agree, Thingie!) and a willingness to march and chant and share views with passersby.

Meet at Union Square (in the center) in San Francisco at 1:30. We'll be there for at least thirty minutes, probably more like an hour.

We'll have fliers and a website by this time tomorrow.

PASS IT ON, THE MORE THE MERRIER

Unitarian Jihad Action - SATURDAY!
My plans have been top sekrit (read, last minute), so I haven't posted until now. Every year, in conjunction with my website, Discordian.com, I run a small convention at my house. We have a small group for KallistiCon this year, and we've decided to do a small Unitarian Jihad type action.

Tomorrow/Today - Saturday the 23rd, we will be having a guerilla meet 'n' greet in Mountain View. We'll have nametags, friendly handshakes, and cookies and lemonade to share with anyone who'd like to stop and have a chat for a while. We'll be at the Center for Performing Arts on Castro Street in Mountain View tomorrow, at 1o'clock (we're hoping for earlier, but we'll definately be there by 1). If you'd like to stop by and join us, or just have a snack and a conversation, we'd love to see you! Howdy, Neighbor!

let's meet for [beverage of choice]
I'm fond of direct action, and that's why I started this lj community. I'd like to meet up with you all and brainstorm actions that we can take both individually (to be shared with the greater community) and as a group that might be appropriate to a jihad of moderation. I'd like to plan this meeting for sometime within the next couple of weeks.

Are you interested in meeting up with us for this? If so, please comment here and give me a general idea of where you live (I don't want to suggest a venue that's a long drive for the majority of interested parties) and any specific days of the week you really can't make it.

ok, done for now, and an introduction
I just finished setting up basic user info for the community. Please let me know if there's anything that should be added!

I posted an introduction in the main community. I have some minor experience in community organization through my activities with the Cacophony Society and Discordian.com. I spend a lot of my time engaged in debate, as I'm on my school's debate team. This has given me an ability to really look at all sides of the question, though sometimes I wonder if I've become too relativist. I am also a certified mediator, though unfortunately I do not have much experience outside of the training class I took (I was hoping to volunteer with Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center, but that didn't work out, so I hope to get involved with the new mediation program at San Jose State when I transfer there in the fall).

Once we have a quorum here, I'll set up a poll and ask where people live, so we can host our first meeting somewhere close to a majority of our members.

Please, introduce yourselves: whereabouts do you live, what drew you to the Unitarian jihad, what sorts of actions you'd like to see, what makes you happy, what makes you hopping mad. I look forward to getting to know all of you.

For now, I'd like to offer this.

Thanks for setting this up!

One small plea for the interests list: it's spelled "Gandhi."
